THE PRACTICE OF MEDITATION IS REQUIRED TO DEVELOP WISDOM. It is like a part and parcel of our day to day activities. Generally, all of us live a life on automatic mode. We think, feel, talk, and act without being aware. We just react to things and remain confused every time.
THE MEDITATION IS A 24 X 7 PRACTICE
To avert the auto mode actions we ought to develop awareness. We shall be aware of what we are thinking, feeling, talking, and doing other activities. We shall accept both favorable and unfavorable outcome without any reaction of likes or dislikes.
Besides, we must be mindful of ongoing events around us.
OBSERVE MENTAL FEELINGS
We shall practice being aware of each and every incident. If we feel anger, we must be aware of that. Similarly, if we feel greedy, jealous, joyful, and/or compassionate, we shall be aware of these too.
For example:- A situation may arise when someone criticises me. In such a situation I shall take the following steps.
1. I shall avoid any kind of argument with him.
2. I shall analyze the reason and facts of the criticism.
3. I shall look at the situation from the point of view of that person.
By doing so I would certainly be able to attain mental peace and reduce suffering.
In order to be happy, we must contemplate each event with full awareness. To cultivate awareness we shall have to observe every condition ‘ as the way it arises. ‘
Actually, the problem starts when we wish how the conditions should be, rather than accepting it.
ATTACHMENT TO DESIRES
The attachment to desires is the main cause of all the sufferings. All of us have following three type of attachments.
1. Sensual pleasure.
2. We wish to grasp things (LIKES).
3. We wish to get rid of things (DISLIKES).
Certainly, these attachments of clinging or aversion to the mental feelings of desire cause suffering.
By developing the awareness of wisdom we would be able to achieve practice of letting go.
Obviously, we must have to develop the practice of meditation in our every activity. We would have to observe all of the actions of our body and mind with full awareness. Contemplate every condition and accept the outcome ‘ as the way it comes.’
