ANGER is a corrosive emotional energy. It is a natural human companion since birth. Every human being is able to express the?negative emotions through it. Sometimes it is good but excess of it is dangerous. so its transformation is required.
CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF ANGER
Generally, the adverse external conditions seem to be its leading cause. But it is not so. Whenever you establish contact with an external adverse condition you evaluate it. Certainly, you wish to get rid of it. To being unsuccessful give rise to discontentment. It is the root cause. It causes both physical as well as the mental disturbance. Its suppression is even more harmful.
WHY NOT OBSERVE AND ACCEPT IT
No doubt it is a negative energy. Further, it is beyond your control too. Then why you should not try to transform it. It is obvious that the human life is full of struggle. Whenever you try to convert any defilement into virtue, you fail. As a result of which, a feeling of guilt and inferiority complex is bound to arise.
It is therefore prudent to take steps towards its transformation. Don’t you think so?
WAYS AND MEANS OF TRANSFORMATION
Obviously, a question may arise as to how to transform it. You would have to observe and contemplate it, whenever it arises. As the external conditions are beyond our control. You shall refrain from both clinging and aversion. You have two choices:-
Either to accept them ‘ as the way they are’, or to express your strong reactions. In your view which choice is correct. Surely, the first one will facilitate the peace of mind.
For example, one of your subordinates did not finalize an important report. The report is crucial for your presentation to the prospective clients. What’s the need of the hour? Would?your scolding him with anger serve any purpose? Certainly, it will be nothing more than a futile exercise.
On the other hand, if you extend a helping hand the task may be completed smoothly. Think about it! Which is the right course of action?
PRACTICE OF MEDITATION ENSURES TRANSFORMATION
No doubt, you would be able to observe and contemplate anger as a witness. Your mental feelings of discontentment would not disturb you mentally anymore. The practice of meditation would help?towards the development of wisdom to accept both favorable and adverse circumstances.
